Physical Therapy

Speech-Language Therapy | Occupational Therapy | Physical Therapy

CDC employs licensed physical therapists who provide physical therapy (PT) for children, birth through age five, who qualify for early intervention.

Overview

Physical Therapy for children birth through age five usually consists of developing head and trunk control, balance and transitional movements, posture, range of motion, and coordination through the use of developmental sequences. Protective reactions, or “primitive reflexes”, tone adjustment techniques, and special equipment needs are also addressed when necessary. Additional higher level skills, such as balance and gait training, strengthening activities, and sensory integration, are addressed as the child grows, to increase their independence in natural environments.
