The Child Development Center (CDC) receives funding through the Federal, State, and local government, as well as through fundraisers, grants, and public and private donors. Dollars received, raised and spent all further CDC’s mission and ensure that the therapeutic and educational needs of children with developmental delays are adequately met.
Additionally, CDC is very fortunate to receive various in-kind support. In-kind support consists of gifts that are non-financial, such as the giving of time or physical items. These types of gifts are crucial to the success of CDC’s programs.
The Child Development Center is a 501(c)(3), private not for profit organization governed by an elected Board of Directors. The 2009-2010 CDC 18 member Board is made up of local professionals and lay people with a vested interest in the mission. Board Members pay annual dues and receive no financial benefit for participation.
CDC’s Current Annual Operating Budget is approximately 4.5 million. Of that amount needed to maintain quality services, 3.6 million is obtained through government funding. Additional money is raised to supplement the cost of operations. Fundraising and building relationships with foundations and private donors is crucial. In fact, one responsibility given to CDC by the State is to secure matching funds to support the operation of programs. This is accomplished through local organizations such as United Way.
